Supporting Sports, Culture and Nation Building
The Authority continues to improve its technological infrastructure through the introduction of the new state-of-the-art ABRAZO Online System which was publicly launched on December 7th, 2009, allowing for an increase in the number of authorized agents from 46 to 78; patrons' ability to purchase and redeem winning tickets at any location; and bountiful opportunities for the NLA and any other interested businesses to advertise and promote their products and services online - amongst other activities. Presently, the Authority sells its online products at seventy-eight (78) authorized agents throughout the Tri-Island State, and owns and operates two (2) branded sales outlets:one in St. George's and the other in Grenville. Four (4) roaming agents also sell Scratch in Grenada.
Scholarship ProgramThe National Lottery Authority has embarked on an ongoing scholarship program aimed at assisting talented young persons. So far, persons have been awarded scholarships in the areas of athletics, football and tennis.
Sporting ActivitiesNLA has supported numerous sporting activities including cricket, football, boxing and volley ball. Larger events include the island's Primary and Secondary School Sports, the 2007 World Cup Cricket, Windward Island Secondary School Games, the 2003 Central American and Caribbean Games and the 2007 World Cup Cricket.
Cultural ActivitiesThe Authority also gave their financial and technical support to many cultural activities. These include the Gouyave Fisherman's Birthday Celebrations, the Carriacou Maroon Festival, Carriacou Regatta and both Carriacou and Grenada's Carnival Celebrations.
